Fossilized Memorabilia
This body of works on paper (2017-2021) employs fresh botanical specimens (or previously dried and reconstituted) as part of the acrylic paint application method. These abstracted landscape paintings evoke trace, temporality, fossils, impressions, remains, and ecology, plus petrological patterns and/or subaqueous strata. The gradually layered botanical imprints give reference to this same tendency of settling plant matter and rock formations on earth. The sense of time from a geological perspective is contrasted to the human understanding of time, with reflection on how humans have drastically accelerated the changes to earth resources in a much shorter duration.
